There were 218 participants in Huntington Middle School’s first-ever Hoops For Heart event. Students raised over$4,600 to benefit the American Heart Association. Coordinators of the program were the school’s P.E. teachers, with game-day assistance by Marshall University athletics.
The all-day basketball marathon held a ton of action and competition! Teams of 5 kids played over and over until the highest scorers played against each other to battle it out. A team of adventurous staff members even sneaked in a few games to rival the boldest players.
Students also showed their individual skills by tossing the ball up for a series of free-throw shots. All the activities proved to provide great exercise while improving student’s talents and allowing for many laughs and big fun.
Chances are very good for participation again next year, and it will likely become an annual event.
